Philip Foxman – Musician, Songwriter, Composer, and Music Producer
Philip Foxman is an Australian-born musician, songwriter, composer, and music producer known for his dynamic career spanning rock, pop, and alternative music scenes across Sydney, London, and New York City.
Foxman began his musical journey in Sydney, composing the score for the ABC TV documentary “Stirring” and performing as a bassist and songwriter for several local bands. He later joined Supernaut, members Gary Twinn, Joe Burnham, Chris Burnham, Philip Foxman and Noel Kennedy, a chart-topping Australian band best known for their hit single “I Like It Both Ways.” Supernaut became a staple on Australia’s iconic TV show Countdown, earned a Gold-certified album, and toured extensively nationwide.
After his success in Australia, Foxman relocated to London, where he formed Illustrated Man, a band featuring members from Japan, Gary Numan, Gang of Four, and The Models. Signed to Capitol/EMI Records, the group achieved international recognition with their Top 20 US dance-rock hit “Head Over Heels,” whose music video received heavy rotation on MTV. Illustrated Man toured across the U.S., sharing stages with Cyndi Lauper and Nik Kershaw.
Foxman’s next chapter unfolded in New York City, where he immersed himself in the city’s vibrant indie and alternative music scene. He performed at legendary venues such as CBGB’s, The Ritz, Bowery Ballroom, and Mercury Lounge, while composing scores for film and television, collaborating with emerging artists, and writing his own original musical. His band Philip Foxman and Prime 8 released the acclaimed album “West 4th and Charles,” followed by his solo album “Up Antenna,” both highlighting his versatility and artistic evolution.
Foxman’s songs have been featured on MTV shows, HBO specials, the international hit TV series “Neighbours,” and in various independent films and TV soundtracks. He also composed the score, co-wrote lyrics, and produced the album for the Off-Broadway musical “Atomic.”
Most recently, Foxman released “Reaching for Air” with the Australian alt-rock band Distant Drum, as well as four solo singles — “So Far Away,” “Words Tear Us Apart,” “All Goes Crazy,” and “Real Life.” All are available on major music streaming platforms. Represented by Peer Music Group (USA), Philip Foxman continues to create music that bridges continents and styles — from alternative rock and pop to film and theatre composition.
"With 'Real Life,' I wanted to create a song that serves as a reminder of the fundamental importance of human connection, especially in a world that is increasingly reliant on digital interaction," says Foxman. "Despite the abundance of devices at our fingertips, the desire for genuine connection with others remains a core human need."
Philip Foxman’s latest single, “ Words Tear Us Apart”, from his soon to be released solo album, “Between 2 Suns”, addresses the toxic personal and political issues that he believes divides.

Philip Foxman’s latest single, “ Words Tear Us Apart”, from his soon to be released solo album, “Between 2 Suns”, addresses the toxic personal and political issues that he believes divides.
The song’s lyrics “Everybody feels so disconnected, Twitter’s on fire, the presidents defected, I’m looking to the sky and he’s long gone”, aims to capture the totally berserk times we are living.
Foxman’s signature singer-songwriter sound of infectious melodies, propulsive rhythmic acoustic guitars, emotional vocal delivery, sonic electro-textures, enhances by the expansive strings along with hovering vocal harmonies, converge to make the songs’ case Foxman’s impressive resume of being a member of Australian hit glam rock band, Supernaut; London based, dance rock band, Illustrated Man, EMI/ Capitol Recs; followed by living in NYC performing and recording two well received solo albums, and composing for film and, most recently, the Off-Broadway musical, Atomic, as well as performing with local Sydney, Australia alt rock band Distant Drum.
His latest single “ Words Tear Us Apart”, continues to highlight his poetic lyrical style and acoustic/sonic soundscapes, which he hopes will shed light on the dangers of our culturally turbulent, social media addictive times.
